Abstract
Drip irrigation is the system of irrigation which is an important and modern system. This system can save water and improve the growth and yield of onions. Because of this, this experiment was conducted to study onion growth and production performance and study the savage and effectiveness of irrigated water under a drip irrigation system during the Kharif season 2019 at the Directorate Vegetable Seed Farm, Quetta. The recorded result revealed that drip irrigation yielded higher-quality growth, with the highest plant height and neck thickness recorded in the Gulnar variety of onions (64.72 cm) and (1.29 cm), respectively. Bulb formation was also superior in the Gulnar variety of onion under this system of irrigation in size and weight, which was (92.29 mm) and (307 gm). The maximum yield obtained from this experiment was 27.6 kg in the Gulnar variety. Drip irrigation affected the morphological performance of onion from which the onion resulting in appropriate onion growth and yield parameters. The savage of water and its efficiency indicated that under drip irrigation, the soil moisture reached the root zone of the plant, and water runoff was not at all. Water was saved (32.8%), and the overall development stages of water utilized were 604 liters under this appropriate drip irrigation system. respectively.
